James Grugeon, Strategic Advisor

James helps NorthPoint Strategy’s clients, particularly in the energy space, bringing decades of experience as a leader and board-level advisor to start-ups, scale-ups, large corporates, not-for-profits and purpose-led organisations across the UK and Australia. He will also provide strategic advice to clients through our work running the Heat and Building Business Council.

James combines deep strategic insight with deep policy expertise across a range of sectors. Formerly the Director of Corporate Affairs at Eaga plc, James supported the delivery of energy efficiency programmes that took one million UK homes out of fuel poverty whilst helping steer the company through a period of significant growth.

As a UK environmental start-up leader he negotiated ground-breaking, multi-million pound partnerships to cut carbon emissions and boost household energy efficiency with major retailers, media companies and energy companies under the Carbon Emission Reduction Target.

And as CEO of a national environmental charity, he repurposed the organisation through the establishment of a coalition of ten national charities to launch the ongoing Healthy Air Campaign to advocate for changes to policy and practice on air pollution and public health in the UK and Europe.

More recently he's focussed on the Government's Warm Homes Plan, Fuel Poverty Strategy and the UK Solar Roadmap, working with start-up and established businesses, the third sector and local and national political stakeholders to provide practical advice.
